The Five Points Association Announces New Community Event Series
Neighborhood merchants association brings fun for all ages to Jacksonville’s eclectic historic district
The Five Points Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to bringing business owners and merchants together to improve the visitor’s experience in Riverside’s most eclectic neighborhood, today announced their first official community event series, Funky Fridays, presented by RadiFi Credit Union. The first monthly event will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Funky Fridays is a community-driven revitalization initiative designed to increase foot traffic, support local merchants, and re-energize public life in the historic Five Points neighborhood. Each month will feature themed events, live music, games, and merchant activations. Designed to welcome all, the series takes an eight to 80 approach, meaning there will be something for kids, seniors and everyone in between.
“We wanted to provide residents an opportunity to come out to Five Points that is fun and accessible for all ages,” said Dori Thomsen, Vice President of the Five Points Association. “It is also our goal to create opportunities for our retail merchants, restaurants and public spaces to shine. Hopefully, we can grow this event series to become a regular happening for people to look forward to at the start of every month.”
This September, attendees can listen to live DJ sets and music at Waffle Cone and Holy Smoke Barbeque, or try sidewalk karaoke along Park Street. Assorted entertainment and pop-ups will be scattered throughout while people enjoy visiting their favorite restaurants, shops, bars and parks.
“Here at RadiFi Credit Union, we’re proud to be your neighborhood credit union - rooted in Jacksonville and passionate about building vibrant communities,” said Tara McQuillen, Chief Marketing Officer at RadiFi Credit Union. “Funky Fridays is the perfect way to celebrate the local spirit, support our small businesses, and connect with the people who are the heart of this community.”
